How To Talk to Prospects On Social Media

Over the past week this has been one of the biggest questions Ive been asked. “How do you talk to prospects on social media?”

If you were in a room full of people and you had to start a conversation with someone you would probably start talking about something you both had in common. You wouldn’t go directly into the business opportunity your involved in. So why do any thing different on social media?

People are real and they need to be treated that way. You can’t just hide behind the computer and hope to make friends and sales on the backend, business is changing…. people buy from people they know, like and trust.


Here are my 3 top tips for How to talk to prospects on social media….

Oh, before we get into that you can chat with people on any platform in the messenger section: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Linkedin and Google + all have these features.

  1. First connect with people who are have mutual friends with you and have the same interests. For example: online marketing, same company. You can find these people in groups your in or within your friends base.
  2. Go and have a good look at their profiles what is it you have in common, do they live near you, do they work full-time and online part-time.
  3. Friend them and send them a private message saying hello and how you found them. For Example: ” Hey Lee, I saw we had mutual friends and we both are working online. Do you do this full-time or part-time? I’m full-time working from home. I look forward to the connection back…”




Be generally interested in what they do and how they are going with it.

Here some opening questions you could use to talk business:

What do you do?

How long have you been in the industry?

Are you working this business part-time or full-time?

Do you find the support is there to back you up by your sponsor?

Do you actually use the products and see results?
